FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A CLASS?
You can begin hypnobirthing any time, but we recommend that the optimal time to start your course is between 20 and 30 weeks. This will give you time to practise the self-hypnosis, relaxation and other effective techniques for gentle, easy birthing but also ensures that the course is still fresh in your mind. If you are outside of that range please don’t worry, you can definitely still attend the classes and achieve a beautiful, calm birth.

I AM A SINGLE PARENT, WILL THIS AFFECT THE CLASSES?
Not at all. We do suggest all mothers bring a friend, mother, sister etc with them for support. Someone who cares for you and the baby and will be your support person during birth. A lot of the course is based around them and how they can help you.

WHAT IF THIS IS NOT MY FIRST BIRTH?

No problem. In fact, well done for wanting to take control of your birth, this time round.
So many women live with past trauma from earlier births, having a calm, controlled beautiful birth can be extremely healing.

I AM HAVING A PLANNED CAESAREAN, CAN I STILL DO THE COURSE?

Absolutely. All births deserve preparation and prior education. Majority of the course is based around vaginal births however. There is a Positive Caesarean Course that some Hypnobirthing Practitioners offer, so this may be a great idea for you. Head to www.hypnobirthingaustralia.com.au for more info.

MY PARTNER IS NOT KEEN ON THE IDEA, HOW DO I CONVINCE THEM?

Remind yourself, they are here to support YOU. This is the biggest day of your life and you get to decide how you prepare for it. It may take some persuasion but often we find the biggest sceptics become Hypnobirthing's biggest supporters. Keep at it and fight for the birth you deserve.

MY PARTNER AND I WORK SHIFT WORK, ARE THE CLASSES FLEXIBLE?

Yes. I am more than happy to accommodate for different schedules. I would recommend booking in a Private class, that way I can come to you and help suit your needs.

HOW DO I TELL MY CAREGIVERS I AM PRACTICING HYPNOBIRTHING?

Most caregivers are aware of Hypnobirthing, especially midwives. Just because those in your inner circle may not know much about it, it would be rare for your Midwifery or Obstetrics team to have not heard of it. In the Positive Birth Course we help you write your birth preferences which very clearly explain the fundamentals of Hypnobirthing. Give this to your care provider during your prenatal appointments to ensure everyone is on the same page.
